The beauty of Oarsmen Expedition’s trip to Patagonia lies in its flexibility. This itinerary should serve as an example only. We rely on our Trip Leader’s years of experience in the region to change any portion of our trip in order to find the best fishing options.

 

 

 

Sample Itinerary

 

Day 1/Travel Day

Arrive in Buenos Aires where you will be met by Oarsmen’s Steve Hoovler. A private shuttle will meet and take you to your hotel. The afternoon of your arrival, a city tour and dinner at a nice restaurant are optional.

 

Day 2/Travel Day

Leave Buenos Aires for Bariloche, approximately a 3 hr flight. Upon arrival in Bariloche a private shuttle will greet and take us through the mountains to San Martin De Los Andes, where we will meet our Oarsmen Trip Leader Justin Spence and spend the night before your fishing trip begins.

 

Day 3/1st Fishing Day

Meet the outfitters and head north to the town of Alumine, where we will check into our lodging head out for your first day of fishing. The area you will be basing out of offers a variety of small and large rivers, spring creeks, and lakes. You will go wherever the fishing is best at the given time of year!

 

Day 4/2nd Fishing Day

Have breakfast and head out for a day on the water. Part of the group may head to a spring creek/small freestone river to wade fish, while the other members may float the Upper Alumine River. Most days will consist of a morning fishing session, lunch on the river, and an afternoon session. Following a long day on the water the group will reunite for dinner.

 

Day 5/3rd Fishing Day

Day 6/4th Fishing Day

Schedules similar to Day 2, but with the opportunity of fishing new water.

 

Day 7/5th Fishing Day

Float the Middle Alumine River. Following the float you will head to Junin De Los Andes, where you will spend several days fishing nearby rivers.

 

Day 8/6th Fishing Day

Day 9/7th Fishing Day

Some of the group may wade fish the Malleo River, while others float the Chimehuin or Collon Cura. Following long days on the water return to Junin for a group dinner.

 

Day 10/8th Fishing Day

Float/Camp trip on the Caleufu River. This trip could involve 2 or 3 nights of camping depending on river flow. If the river is low and requires 3 nights of camping we will start a day earlier.

 

Day 11/9th Fishing Day

Float/Camp Caleufu River.

 

Day 12/Travel Day

Depart Bariloche for Buenos Aires. Arrive in Buenos Aires, transfer to international airport, and take flight back to the United States that evening.
